I had the opportunity to study traditional stone lithography in college and quickly fell in love with the feel of the stone and its ability to communicate the nuances of a drawn line. Maintaining a non-toxic home studio however, precluded the ability to create a litho studio. Searching for a non-toxic seemed futile until I came upon a weeklong workshop in Waterless lithography. Immediately intrigued, I attended and fell in love again. Although not a perfect substitute for stone or plate lithography, it possesses many of the same qualities. Additionally, I also incorporate the photo-litho process. Similar to my etchings, all images are hand drawn either on the plate (for waterless) or mylar (for photo-litho).
